Marina di Modica is located about 20 km from Modica and 15 km from Scicli. The bay, which extends for about 1 km, overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is closed on one side by Punta Regilione and on the other by contrada Pisciotto.

The place, rich in typically Mediterranean vegetation,is an ideal place to spend your holidays in total tranquility and rest in harmony with the surrounding nature, made of prickly pears and agaves. In the summer months it becomes attractive especially for lovers of water sports: thanks to its exposure and the presence of currents it is an ideal place for surfers, kitesurfers and similar sports.

The beaches in Marina di Modica

This small paradise of Eastern Sicily is characterized by the golden and fine sand that frames a crystalline and transparent sea. The beach is well organized with three beaches that offer you all the amenities you need; beyond the promenade, a few meters from the beach, there are also two convenient parking lots. There are also large areas of free beach where you can play beach tennis or fly a kite following the air currents that make this area unique and characteristic.

Not far from Marina di Modica we find the beach of Sampieri, part of the municipality of Scicli. A small forest area protects the golden beach of Sampieri, bathed by a clear sea. The two villages are divided by the famous “Fornace Penna”, an ancient brick factory, which became the set of one of the episodes of the fiction “Il Commissario Montalbano”.

Towards the east, however, there is the beach of Maganuto, a wild and fascinating place in whose greenery the “Moretta Tabaccata”, a diving duck at risk of extinction, nests. This beach is truly suggestive characterized by high dunes, reminiscent of the desert, and a blue and crystalline sea.

What to do in Marina di Modica

Marina di Modica is a very organized place with equipped beaches, shops, bars and clubs that contribute to making your holiday unique. For those who don’t love the sand so much, there is a little club with an equipped beach built directly on the rocks: the “Shuluq” which offers catering services for both lunch and dinner.

After relaxing on the beautiful beach of Marina, the clubs, with dj-sets and disco music every evening, offer drinks and fun for both adults and children. The “Corallo Food and Beach” directly on the sea is suitable for adults who, after a day spent on the beach, can enjoy Italian, Mediterranean and Sicilian cuisine on the beach; the “Scirocco” beach, on the other hand, attracts the youngest with DJ sets and excellent cocktails to drink, from sunset until late at night.
Compared to nearby Sampieri, in Marina di Modica there are many nice restaurants such as the “U.V.A beach Club” where you can eat well and at very affordable prices.

Finally, we must visit the “Fornace Penna”, an ancient brick factory, which has become a monument of industrial archeology, which fell into ruin in 1924 due to an arson that destroyed it in a few hours. La Fornace is the setting for a truly breathtaking seascape, especially at sunset when the sun’s rays reflect on the sea and on the ruins.
