Si tratta di uno dei borghi pi\u00f9 famosi d\u2019Italia, nel quale storia e natura s\u2019intrecciano in una localit\u00e0 decisamente da visitare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un po&#8217; di storia<\/strong><br \/>\nCastellammare del Golfo nasce come porto della vicina citt\u00e0 di Segesta, rimanendo ad essa legato fino all\u2019arrivo degli Arabi. Questa popolazione, arrivata a Castellammare nell\u2019VIII secolo, porta tanti cambiamenti a cominciare dal nome, che diventa \u201cal-madari\u011f\u201d (\u201cle scale\u201d, dovuto alla scalinata che conduceva al porto).<\/p>\n<p>Il nome attuale di Castellammare del Golfo arriva all\u2019inizio del secondo millennio, quando questa zona viene controllata prima dai Normanni e poi dagli Svevi. Negli anni successi cambia ancora \u201cdi propriet\u00e0\u201d, visto che prima questa cittadina viene conquistata agilmente da Roberto d\u2019Angi\u00f2 e poi dagli Aragonesi.<\/p>\n<p>Questi continui conflitti portano ad un periodo difficile per Castellammare, che torna a crescere quando diventa una terra baronale di Federico d\u2019Antiochia (che la trasforma in un importante porto commerciale). Questo ruolo venne conservato anche nelle epoche successive, che consentono a Castellammare di vivere al meglio fino a quando non venne caratterizzata (come molte altre localit\u00e0 siciliane) dal fenomeno del brigantaggio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spiaggia La Plaja a San Vito lo Capo<\/strong><br \/>\nNella zona di Castellammare del Golfo, la spiaggia pi\u00f9 grande e importante \u00e8 sicuramente La Plaja. Questo \u00e8 un tratto di costa sabbioso, bagnato da un mare cristallino e frequentato sia dai giovani che dalle famiglie.<\/p>\n<p>Un\u2019altra spiaggia interessante \u00e8 Guidaloca, con un mare altrettanto spettacolare e caratterizzata da lisci ciottoli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luoghi da visitare<\/strong><br \/>\nCastellammare vanta edifici che consentono di rivivere i vari momenti della storia dell\u2019odierno comune trapanese. Tra i pi\u00f9 importanti c\u2019\u00e8 il Castello Arabo Normanno, la cui edificazione viene attribuita agli Arabi nel X secolo e su resti di antiche fortificazioni.<\/p>\n<p>Successivamente venne ampliato dai Normanni, che aggiungono le mura e alzano le torri gi\u00e0 presenti. In seguito viene ulteriormente modificato, mentre attualmente ospita il Polo Museale \u201cLa memoria del Mediterraneo\u201d (nato con lo scopo di valorizzare il patrimonio della cittadina e di tutto il territorio circostante).<\/p>\n<p>Tra gli edifici religiosi, invece, da citare assolutamente la Chiesa Madre. Sulle origini di questa chiesa i pareri sono discordi, perch\u00e9 viene edificata a partire dal 1726 per volere del Principe D\u2019Aragona ma \u2013 si dice \u2013 sulle fondamenta di edifici preesistenti. Lo stile \u00e8 classico e lineare e, tra le opere che custodisce, c\u2019\u00e8 anche la statua della Madonna del Soccorso (che risale al \u2019500).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cosa fare durante il soggiorno<\/strong><br \/>\nOltre ai due edifici citati in precedenza, Castellammare del Golfo offre molte altre possibilit\u00e0 per passare qualche giorno tra storia e natura. Un altro edifico importante della citt\u00e0 \u00e8 il Palazzo Crociferi, fondato nel 1659 per volere della principessa Francesca Balsamo di Roccafiorita come convento dei Padri Crociferi. Attualmente \u00e8 utilizzato come sede del Municipio.<\/p>\n<p>Un altro luogo estremamente caratteristico sono le Torri Bennistra, torri di avvistamento saracene utilizzate in passato per controllare l\u2019eventuale arrivo di popoli nemici via mare. This population, which arrived in Castellammare in the eighth century, brings many changes starting with the name, which becomes \u201cal-madari\u011f\u201d (\u201cthe stairs\u201d, due to the steps leading to the port).<\/p>\n<p>The current name of Castellammare del Golfo comes at the beginning of the second millennium, when this area was controlled first by the Normans and then by the Swabians. In the years that followed, it changed its \u201cownership\u201d again, since first this town was easily conquered by Robert of Anjou and then by the Aragonese.<\/p>\n<p>These continuous conflicts lead to a difficult period for Castellammare, which returns to grow when it becomes a baronial land of Frederick of Antioch (who transforms it into an important commercial port). Among the most important is the Arab Norman Castle, whose construction is attributed to the Arabs in the 10th century and on the remains of ancient fortifications.<\/p>\n<p>Later it was enlarged by the Normans, who added the walls and raised the towers already present. Later it was further modified, while it currently houses the \u201cMemory of the Mediterranean\u201d Museum Pole (created with the aim of enhancing the heritage of the town and the surrounding area).<\/p>\n<p>Among the religious buildings, on the other hand, the Mother Church should be mentioned. Opinions differ on the origins of this church, because it was built starting in 1726 at the behest of the Prince of Aragon but \u2013 it is said \u2013 on the foundations of pre-existing buildings. Another important building in the city is Palazzo Crociferi, founded in 1659 at the behest of Princess Francesca Balsamo di Roccafiorita as a convent of the Crociferi Fathers. It is currently used as the seat of the Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Another extremely characteristic place are the Bennistra Towers, Saracen watchtowers used in the past to control the possible arrival of enemy peoples by sea. Also worth considering is the Small Museum of the Sea, which collects a series of testimonies on fishing activity (which has always characterized this area).<\/p>\n<p>On the naturalistic level, however, the area of \u200b\u200bCastellammare is dotted with several caves. The most evocative is Abisso dei Cocci, with its bizarre rock shapes and its difficult and stimulating paths. Castellammare also overlooks the Zingaro Nature Reserve. There are no bus lines that connect the two airports directly to the Trapani municipality, which can be reached from both cities by train.
